10/20 - Kirikki-Tokk: Thri-kreen Eldritch Knight

Kirikki

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/86202960

Kirikki-Tokk was a smuggler in wildspace who ran into an emissary of the One Who Dwells beyond. Compelled by his message, Kirikki made a bargain for a fragment of dark power. Now in combat they are a whirling terror, swinging a flail, lighting enemies alight with green flame, and loosing crossbow bolts all around. Now traveling with the emissary to the Rock of Bral, what awaits there remains to be seen.

I thought that the idea of a chittering bug caster would be fun, and the secondary arms reminded me of General Grievous. The ability to pop off hand crossbow shots while fighting in melee seemed to add an extra dimension to the fighter and might allow even more crowd control than the eldritch knight provides out of the box.

10/19 Leyton Grimb: Verdan Order Domain Cleric

Leyton

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/86166434

Leyton was drawn to the Order domain so they could try and make sense of the Verdan place in Faerun. Their knack for organization & categorization led them to rise quickly in the ranks of the Zhentarim. Cultivating the connections to all of the various assets in the Western Heartlands, Leyton is now in Greenest for the season, building up their network and spreading the Zhentarim tendrils even wider. Using their eldritch boons and linguistic skills, all of Leyton's books are enciphered in a language only they can decipher.

I was drawn to the idea of an Order cleric as a spymaster, and I also needed a Zhentarim rep for my upcoming Tyranny of Dragons campaign. Looking at Acquisitions Inc, I came across the Verdan and found them really compelling.

10/18 - Arysel the Blessed: Dragonborn Oath of Vengeance Paladin

Arysel

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/86095150

The recent plague of incidents on the Sword Coast involving dragon cultists has inflamed the righteous anger deep within Arysel. He has traveled to the area to perform notable acts of good and charity to counter the racist backlash against all saurians that has resulted in several brawls and at least three unfortunate deaths. He is traveling alone, but will likely join the cause of a worthy party of adventurers. His primary goal is to disrupt the Dragon Cult as much as possible, if not destroy it outright.

I created Arysel as a sort of "double-edged sword" NPC where engaging his support in working against the dragon cult will prove difficult if they are intent on subterfuge or subtlety. Not every problem is a nail, but when the players finally find one then Arysel will be the best possible hammer.

10/17 Lasse: Leonin Path of the Zealot Barbarian

Lasse

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/86023062

A fearsome warrior and savage duelist, Lasse is the commander of the forces that the Order of the Gauntlet have sent to Greenest as part of an investigation into the Dragon cult activity in the area. When he does get into a battle, Lasse leads from the front, holding the line with his troops.

I wanted an inspiring commander for the Alliance during my rewrite of Hoard of the Dragon Queen. I hadn't looked at the Barbarian class yet this month & felt most inspired by the Zealot.

10/16 - Captain Felston: Loxodon College of Swords Bard

Felston

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85948711

Arnholt Felston captains the spelljammer Sunrunner transporting travelers & goods between planes when other magical transportation isn't available. A swashbuckler and storyteller at heart, Captain Felston has a reputation for providing a friendly and reliable voyage for travelers who may be escaping dire situations.

Captain Felston is my attempt to make a Bayle Domon-esque character in a spelljammer setting. A recurring character or contractor for a player group, he could also deliver his own adventure hooks in addition to acting as a vendor/trader.

10/15 - Amit: Giff War Cleric

Amit

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85862239

In fulfilling his duty as Master-at-arms on the Spelljamming ship Sunrunner, Amit favors his flintlock pistol & shield when it comes to repelling boarders. As a War Cleric of Tempus, his shots are divinely guided to keep both his crew & clients safe on their astral journeys. A friendly presence during downtime, Amit can usually be found chatting with any travelers to learn their stories. Over the last several weeks, he's begun hearing tales of strange mystics showing up in trade hubs like the Rock of Bral & the Radiant Citadel recruiting followers for unknown purposes. He's trying to convince the Captain to investigate, but has been unsuccessful so far.

This concept started as an attempt to build a ranged paladin to take advantage of smites available, but mechanically it's not there. A war cleric was the next logical choice, and the thought of a large giff having high dexterity became very amusing to me.

10/14 - Pheyn: Plasmoid Drunken Master Monk

Pheyn

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85805468

Pheyn travels the countryside in search of adventure and fresh new spirits to imbibe. They've fallen in with a traveling circus, doing a side show as a curiosity as well as bouncing in the beer garden when it's necessary. As they move up the Sword Coast past Candlekeep, it's a pretty wide field for them to set up on near Greenest.

This character concept is entirely based on a visual I had of an ooze doing a flurry of blows and I extrapolated from there. I feel like Drunken Master gives them a fluidity to contrast the alien-ness of the ooze.

10/13 - Herald of the Beyond: Aasimar Mastermind Rogue

Herald

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85731214

The Herald of the Beyond is the strongest influence that the One Who Dwells has exerted into the material plane. Xe exists to do the direct will of Owd and to draw others into service. Xe travels using an Amulet of the Planes, using their skills as a mastermind to set up self-sufficient cells before moving to another plane.

I'm still exploring the different influences that an Old One can spin into the world, perhaps it will become a spelljammer campaign background in the future.

10/12 - Aradhi Zuun - Githzerai Order of the Profane Soul Blood Hunter

Aradhi

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85657065

The Spelljammer that Aradhi crewed was attacked and destroyed by an Eldritch Lich while traveling in the Astral Sea. Lying broken next to the helm, she was attacked by the far realm parasite but was able to fight it off, but not before becoming infected by its aberrant touch. Lapsing in and out of lucidity, her fever dreams of home drew her back to the place where she came of age, near Chult in the Forgotten Realms. Coming to in Port Nyanzaru, she found that the parasite had changed her, revealing the secrets of hemocraft to her. She hears the whispers of the One Who Dwells beyond the Astral Sea, and is unknowingly a pawn in their oblique machinations.

I was inspired to create this character initially in order to look at the Blood Hunter class as I'm not really familiar with Critical Role content, but when I discovered they also had a potential connection to Old Ones, I decided to cast her as another one of OWD's pawns out in the planes, however unwilling at this point.

10/11 - Vareyn Slone: Satyr Alchemist Artificer

Vareyn

https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/85590725

Vareyn spends his days behind a bar in the best pub in Greenest, working tirelessly on new mixed drinks and more exotic potions. As a natural reveler, he's the focus of attention when there isn't a dedicated performer on, and he's ever the classic publican, an open ear and a guiding word for any who need. Lately there's been murmurs of discontent in the town, spurred on by the influx of dragon cult activity.

This character was one I floated to another player at session zero of the local game I'm playing in, and I thought it would be fun to flesh out. I've never looked at the satyr before, it seems right for a rakish fellow like Vareyn.
